Where and when to use –
• Extra Fine: For head, ears and detail work.
• Fine: For Head, neck and general finishing.
• Medium: For general body stripping.
• Coarse: For body stripping on large breeds or extra-coarse coats.
Finished Look –
Rolled Coat – Hand Stripping every 4-6 weeks will result in a “Rolled Coat”. This is where the hairs fit neatly into each other and the coat becomes flatter and coarser.
Irregular stripping (say once every 6 months) will cause the coat to “blow”, making it longer and open (irregular looking) – stripping a “blown” coat can cause bald patches as the coat will try to regenerate itself.
IMPORTANT – Knives can be extremely sharp and experience is advised if you intend to use them like this. If inexperienced please blunt the knives. This can be done by cutting cardboard in a knife like fashion to blunt.
